Census of business entities 2026

From 15 October to 30 November 2026 the Office is counting every business in the three cities and the six districts, under Executive Directive 2026/24 of 12 August 2026.

Who is counted

Registered companies, sole traders, farms, workshops, market stalls and businesses carried on at home, whether or not they appear on the register of firms. Bazaar stalls and farms are counted for the first time.

How it works

  1. An enumerator visits the premises with an Office identity card and the city or district administration's letter.
  2. The owner or manager answers the questionnaire (form TSO-26): activity, address, number of people working, and whether the business is registered.
  3. The enumerator leaves a census slip as proof that the business has been counted.

Confidentiality

Information collected is used for statistical purposes only and is not disclosed to tax or other inspection bodies in a form that identifies a respondent (Directive 2026/24, paragraph 4).

Results

Preliminary results will be published before the review of the 2027 budget.
